About
“Chakra” is a Sri Lankan teledrama aired in 2014 on ITN. Directed by Sanjaya Nirmal, it explores the themes of male dominance and human weaknesses within a historical setting. The story is set in the hill country during the 1800s and follows the character Naga, a black magician, his aide Sona, and Bandara, a strong young man, as they become entangled with Walli, a beautiful gypsy woman.
The cast includes notable actors such as Mahendra Perera, W. Jayasiri, Veena Jayakody, Sriyantha Mendis, Menaka Rajapaksa,Charith Abeysinghe and Dulani Anuradha. The teledrama is produced by Janaki Wijeratne, with cinematography by Upul Prajath and music by Nuwan Thenuwara. It delivers an insightful look at the influence of tradition and culture on human behavior, particularly focusing on the development of a male-centric society over time
