About
“Kadira Divyaraja” is a 2023 Sri Lankan Sinhala fantasy romance film directed by Professor Sunil Ariyaratne. The movie portrays the legendary love story of the Hindu god Skanda (also known as Kataragama) and the aboriginal princess Valli. Based on Sri Lankan folklore and ancient Indian epic poetry, the film follows Valli’s devotion and love for Skanda, whom she had long admired and worshipped. When Skanda learns of her devotion, he visits Sri Lanka, leading to their eventual union.
The film stars Samar Virmani as Skanda and Sonakshi Singh Rawat as Valli, with a supporting cast that includes Nadeepa Ranasinghe, Roshan Pilapitiya, and Nilmini Tennakoon. The cinematography is handled by Channa Deshapriya, and the musical score is composed by Rohana Weerasinghe.
